about

This song was recorded nearly 5 years ago when I just met David Prendergast. Its part of the first session we ever did together. The main vocal was a scratch vocal we never bothered re-recording as we thought we’d never use the track. Louise was in the studio for another track we were working on together and decided put down some backing vocals over the chorus. I’m not really sure what this song is about as the lyrics were taken from a poem I wrote while reading Stephen Kings – The Dark Tower during a prolonged Drug and alcohol induced psychotic episode I had a few years prior to recording the song. It seems to be about an old man waiting to follow his wife into death, or possibly it’s about a demon who’s human lover has passed from this life. That feels vaguely familiar to me

lyrics

SILENCE

Verse
Searching in the dark
Comfort in his heart
The journey it’s far
To continue is more than hard

Verse
He wants nothing
More his hand to be in hers
For her to sit with him
For her to believe him

Chorus
Oh bitten lip or two
The rest is frozen through
Silence, silence is gone.

Verse
Leaving a man’s ground
In a sacred no last found
Feeling his eyes drown
Shrugs it off with a frown

Verse
Beyond an old man’s fate
Beyond his human range
Channels through the pain
Something more than his hate

Chorus
Oh bitten lip or two
The rest is frozen through
Silence, silence is gone.

No nothing left to hide
In himself resigned
Waiting, watching the tide.

Outro
Feeling his eyes drown,
He calls out her name.
